How to make a cir­cle color spec­trum in Illustrator

So you want to make a color spec­trum like this, using Illus­tra­tor? Here is how you can do it.

Start by mak­ing a new doc­u­ment in Illus­tra­tor. The size does not really mat­ter because Illus­tra­tor is res­o­lu­tion inde­pen­dent. I pre­fer to have my doc­u­ment in RGB col­ors because it gives me the free­dom to move it over to diver­sity of dif­fer­ent color pro­files later on. Besides RGB has wider color spec­trum and thus brighter colors.

Hunungsskinka með 30% afs­lætti við kassann.

Það er flott að fá þessa fal­l­egu skinku með 30% afs­lætti við kas­sann og nóvem­ber er ein­mitt rétti tíminn til þess að fjár­festa í slíku kjeti og eta það.

Start­ing off with RGB workflow

An old dream of mine is com­ing through these days. That is RGB work­flow for print­ing. In fact it’s more than 10 years, prob­a­bly almost 15 years, since I real­ized that this was the next step in in the printing/prepress pro­ce­dure. It’s been a long wait.

When the com­put­ers took over in graphic design a lot of things that had been done in the print­er­ies came with it. It was all fine to the graphic designer except the color man­age­ment. Ner­vous design­ers try­ing to get their col­ors right are now being saved by the pro­fes­sion­als at the print­er­ies who know how to do this stuff.

Gamall drau­mur, mjög gamall reyn­dar, er að rætast þessa dagana. Í stað þess að hön­nuðir séu skjál­fandi á bei­n­unum við að bög­glast með að lit­greina myn­dir, oft í tómri óvissu, er þessi hluti vinnslun­nar að færast aftur til prentsmið­janna, þar sem fagfólk sér um hana. Við erum sem sagt að færa okkur úr CMYK verk­flæði yfir í RGB verkflæði.
