In the spring semester of 2009 I taught several students of the Iceland Academy of the Arts , the basics of Adobe Illustrator. The time for each group was relatively short, five afternoons per group.
The students of graphic designs was a very mixed group. Many had never opened Illustrator but a few had some experience. Hardly anyone had used the Pen Tool of Illustrator. In the fourth session I had them use what ever they had learned to make a self portrait. I was quite happy with the result. Some of the portraits are excellent, but most of them are very descriptive of the characters.
Originally inspiration for this assignment was from Sean Hodge “Draw Your Self Portrait ” on AiBurn. I showed this to the students but gave them absolute freedom to use what they had learned in this short time.
Actually there is no need to have the names. All the portraits look very much like the author, even the cubic one 😀
So here you go, an exhibition:
Talent! Excellent work
Great job with the students, Sigurdur. You’ve got some very talented and imaginative ones there indeed.
kærar þakkir fyrir námskeiðið… já og þolinmæðina þar sem að ég var tölvulaus fyrstu tímana : )
þetta var afskaplega fræðandi fyrir mig – enda aldrei opnað illustrator áður ; )
