Feed Your Type Addiction with RSS

I think it’s about two years ago when I really started to deal with the information overflow on the internet I was having by subscribing to the RRS feeds of the sites I used to visit daily. And what a relief! Now I just scroll through the list of headlines and read what interests me and on occasion jump on to the browser to visit the site if I feel like. With close to 900 feeds I want to follow there is hardly any other way to do this.
In this time the number of feeds have grown, as I said, to almost 900. I categorize the feeds. Some might belong to more than one category. There is hardly a website on design that does not mention typography one time or another. But the feeds I categorize as typography are there because either the main theme there is typography or the site has a typography section I want to get the content of.
Then one day I got this idea: Why not share this section of my feeds? So, here it is for you to enjoy. The look is not the prettiest one. The headers are screen shots that I pasted in without any further fixing. I did not want to delay this any longer.
The layout is simple. Header, name, website url, the feed url and some description, either copied from the sites description or just what came to my mind. To make it easier for the ones who want it all quickly there is an OPML file for you to download and import into your reader.
There are probably quite a few feeds missing from the list. Please comment and point to more sites and I will most likely add it to the list. I can always use some more myself.

Great to hear Caroline. I’ll add your site http://www.uktype.com/ before the end of the day. There are four or five new ones that have been mentioned to me or I discovered since I posted this. And the traffice is about five times normal traffic. I really have to consider writing more in English.

150 feeds!?!?! Now I see why people like those “Top 10″ lists so much. How do you get through so much information? I don’t think I have more than 30 feeds in total. There just isn’t enough time in the day.
Any chance on letting us know your favourites? Say…your top 10?
By using a RRS reader I can see the headlines of the postings and even get a preview in the reader. Then open up only the ones that interest me. Actually I have more than I can handle well each day but every now and then I clean up the situation.
RSS readers like endo and the one I currently use, NetNewsWire (both free now) allow great filtering and use of Smart Lists. Using that I have a favorite list for the Daily-Must-Read and so on. Grouping is another way to deal with it. As an example I have groups that I refer to often, but lets say my Productivity group I check only about once or twice a week. Top 10… good idea. I’ll bring you my top 20 soon. I am currently in the process of weighting feeds into it, but I need a few days because I want to include short comments. Stay tuned with RSS and twitter

The Russians are not quite right. I have found a few more, most by reading the logs of visitors. I will add a few more within a few days. I decided to add the new ones below the main list and put the new sites in alphabetical order later not to confuse the ones who have hand picked sites. When I do I will also remake the OPML file which people can have in any order they want.
I have your site already in RSS under my design category. Very nice one.
And yes, Jon Tan. I recently discovered his blog but have to dig deeper in at first chance. His site is also under my design category, but I will check if he should belong under typography too. The list is based on how I filed the RSS at first but certainly it can and should be reconsidered every now and then.
